REIKI

Shine Bright! Connect, Inspire, and Empower

A Space to Rest, Restore and Reconnect

Sometimes healing isn't about talking, analysing or actively working through an experience. Sometimes what we need is simply an opportunity to slow down, become still, restore our energy and allow ourselves to receive.

Reiki is a gentle form of energy healing, originating in Japan, that works with the flow of life-force energy within and around the body.

Reiki offers a quiet space to step away from the demands of everyday life and reconnect with yourself. Many people experience a deep sense of relaxation, calm and wellbeing during a session. You may notice warmth, tingling or other sensations, experience emotions or imagery, or simply find yourself becoming deeply still. There is no particular way you are expected to feel or respond.

For me, Reiki offers something a little different from counselling, IFS or EFT. There is nothing you need to explain, understand or work out. You can simply slow down, receive and allow yourself to be.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan. The approach I practise is Usui Reiki, the traditional system from which many forms of Reiki practised today have developed.

The word Reiki is often translated as “universal life-force energy.” Within Reiki, this refers to the energy believed to flow within and around all living things. During a treatment, the practitioner acts as a channel for Reiki energy, helping to replenish and rebalance the body's natural energy flow. This is understood to support the body's own natural capacity for healing and restoration.

Reiki is a gentle and non-invasive practice. It doesn't require you to talk through difficult experiences or even know exactly what you need from the session. Instead, it offers an opportunity to slow down, receive and reconnect with yourself—physically, emotionally and energetically.

I am an Usui Reiki Master, and Reiki has been part of my therapeutic work for many years. Today, I bring it together with my counselling and therapeutic background, allowing it to sit within a broader, integrative approach to wellbeing.

What Happens in a Reiki Session?

Before we begin, we'll spend a little time talking about what has brought you to Reiki and what you hope to receive from the session. This gives us a gentle intention for our work together while still allowing the experience to unfold naturally.

During the Reiki treatment, you'll lie comfortably with your eyes closed, remaining fully clothed. There is nothing you need to do—this is simply a space to rest, receive and allow yourself to become still. Many people experience Reiki as deeply relaxing, connecting and rebalancing, making it particularly appealing if you find it difficult to switch off or settle into meditation on your own.

As I work, I may become aware of particular sensations, impressions or intuitive insights. Afterwards, we'll have time to talk about anything that came up and explore how it resonates with your own experience or with the intention you brought to the session. I offer these as observations rather than answers—the meaning, if any, is always yours to decide.

My background in counselling also allows us to explore anything that emerges with curiosity, compassion and sensitivity, should you wish to.

Sometimes Reiki is simply a deeply restorative experience; at other times it can gently open the door to greater self-understanding and healing.

Sessions typically last around 90 minutes, allowing plenty of time for the Reiki itself as well as conversation and reflection before and afterwards.

How Reiki May Support You

People come to Reiki for many different reasons. You may be feeling depleted or overwhelmed, finding it difficult to slow down, or simply longing for some time to reconnect with yourself. Others are drawn to Reiki during periods of change, emotional stress or personal reflection.

Reiki can offer a deeply restorative space in which to pause and receive. People commonly describe experiencing:

  • deep relaxation and a sense of calm

  • feeling more grounded and connected to themselves

  • a sense of emotional space or clarity

  • an opportunity to slow down when life feels busy or overwhelming

  • greater awareness of themselves and what they may need

  • a sense of energetic balance and restoration

  • support during periods of stress, change or emotional difficulty

  • a quiet space for reflection, personal or spiritual growth

You don't need to be experiencing a particular problem to benefit from Reiki. Sometimes the intention can be as simple as creating space to rest, replenish your energy and reconnect with yourself.
